How to Use Christian Websites for Your Daily Walk

The Internet has been changing lives around the world for decades now. It was only a short while ago that names like Google, Netflix, and Facebook were not used in everyday conversation. As technology changes and (hopefully) improves our lives, you may be asking yourself how Christian websites can influence your daily walk.

It turns out that there are quite a few sites designed specifically for helping believers confront daily issues and navigate through life. While we won’t be able to cover all of them, we have put together a short list of some of the top Christian sites.

Believe it or not, not everyone in the world owns a smartphone. There are many great phone apps out there for Christians, but for the sake of including more people, we’ll just focus on websites.

Christian Websites for Bible Resources

Depending on what your situation in life is like, there are several different ways to define “Bible resources.” You might simply be looking for a way to read the Bible on your computer. Bible Gateway is one of the most popular sites for reading the Bible online. Whether you’re trying to find a passage of Scripture or verses that contain a certain phrase, this is a quick way to get around the Bible.

It would be weird to talk about Bible resources and not mention a website that has that exact name. Bible Resources isn’t quite as popular or user-friendly as Bible Gateway, but it’s another website that offers a similar service.

Bible Study Tools is a website that gives you a chance to read the Bible, but also provides other materials. These can be Bible studies, commentaries, encyclopedias, or analysis of popular stories in Scripture.

Whether you are a seminary student, a pastor, or a new believer, websites like these can help you to understand the Bible more clearly and strengthen your faith.

Christian Websites for Entertainment

For Christian families, it can often be difficult to find quality entertainment that is pleasing to God. Many people have varying degrees of conviction in this area, but we can all agree that finding clean entertainment is a good thing.

To find Christian music, you can head over to K-LOVE or Air1 and listen to their radio broadcast for free. If you want to build your own playlist, there are several websites out there that will help you out with that.

Let’s not forget that you can also buy Christian music. Streaming music may be the popular thing to do these days, but record sales (and touring) are what drive the music business. You can find great music at your local Christian bookstore. Most of these bookstores also have an online shop where you can purchase their goods. The great thing about buying music on sites like iTunes or Amazon is that you can sample the album/songs and read what other people thought of the music. But let’s get back to websites that are strictly Christian in nature…

Plugged In is a Christian review site that primarily focuses on movies. You can also find information on video games, music, and books. The great thing about this site is that it goes in-depth to point out all of the pros and cons. They also point out the entertainment value of each film. That way, you won't have to look at other critics too.

How to Use Christian Websites for Your Daily Walk

As for watching films, there are actually services out there where you can find family entertainment. Pure Flix is a company that allows you to stream faith-based films and TV shows from your computer or TV. If that sounds familiar, the streaming site was formed by the film production company of the same name. Of course, you might also find a few Christian movies on Netflix.

No matter what kind of entertainment you’re looking for, these Christian websites and others provide you with the opportunity to be better informed. You don’t have to choose between exposing your family or yourself to everything the world has to provide and the life of a complete shut in on the other side of the spectrum. Using Christian resources like these allow you to navigate everyday life.

Christian Websites for Cultural Commentary

Anyone who has ever visited Facebook or the comment section of any article knows that there is no shortage of opinions in the world today. Instead of racing to be the first to address a popular topic, why not seek out thoughtful Christian commentary before sharing your opinion?

When it comes to Christian websites seeking to provide cultural commentary, there are more than enough options. If you want a website that speaks on all of culture, maybe try Relevant Magazine or Christianity Today.

There are also several theologians and Christian thinkers who keep up to date with today’s issues. Two of the most popular voices in recent years have been Albert Mohler and Russell Moore. While each has their own websites, you can often find their writing in national publications like The New York Times.

Other websites like Crosswalk provide views from a collection of writers. While you may not agree with every Christian opinion you read online (and you won’t), finding informed opinions is a better way to stay educated than simply trusting your friends on social media.

When we engage with other believers or those outside of the Church on current issues, we need to have a firm grasp of both the situation and the Christian response. Without taking time to understand the issues, we’re simply trusting in our own opinions.

Christian Websites for Apologetics

The most basic understanding of the word “apologetics” for Christians is the ability to prove or defend our beliefs. Believers have worked on proving the Bible true in a variety of ways since Jesus’ day. Some of the most popular works on the subject were from Josh McDowell in the books “Evidence That Demands a Verdict” and its successor.

There are still many people working on this subject today, though it can be an uphill battle with the culture.

One name that has seen headlines recently is Ken Ham. Recently sparring with television personality Bill Nye, Ham is the founder of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum. As you can probably guess, Ham mainly works on confirming the reports found in Genesis concerning Creation. The Discovery Institute is another organization that works to prove the existence of God. Their focus is mostly on the idea of Intelligent Design.

Apologetics doesn’t simply cover the science of the Bible, though. It’s about being able to defend your title as “Christian” by understanding your beliefs. In that sense, theology can be explored through numerous Christian websites.

We encourage you to find Biblical authorities who are speaking on these issues. It’s important to remember that there are a lot of things online that are inaccurate or misleading. Finding trusted sources is more important than finding someone who agrees with you.

One website that helps with answering tough questions is Desiring God. Based around the ministry of John Piper, this website features articles, sermons, and interviews that can help address tough subjects like miscarriage and questions from Scripture.

No matter what kind of Christian influence you are seeking in life, the Internet has many options for helping you find it. We would like to encourage you to pursue a consistent time of Bible reading and prayer, as well as membership in a Bible-believing church. Aside from these pillars of the faith, however, you are going to want other outlets through which your daily walk can be sustained.

Christian entertainment can be a powerful force in your life. If you've never given it a chance, Christian music can have a major impact on your daily routine.

At the K-LOVE Fan Awards, we celebrate the best in Christian entertainment each and every year. More than just an awards show, we host the ultimate fan experience through the biggest weekend in Christian music. To find out how you can be a part of our upcoming events, click on the link below.
